Veterans Resource Center Holds Open House

SONY-DSCVeterans and their families traveled to Lawrenceville on Aug. 22 to visit the Gwinnett County Veterans Resource Center to learn what services are available. An open house was held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with a luncheon with U.S. Congressman Rob Woodall invited to attend.

Jeri Diehl, director of the Resource Center, and Corene D. Smith, executive director of the Success to Succeed Foundation, explained the purpose of the Veterans Resource Center. All military veterans and their family members have access to the latest information available on:

  • Disability claims
  • Housing
  • Continuing Education programs
  • Employment

The Veterans Resource Center also will offer subject specific programs available on an event-by-event basis.

The IMPACT! Group, a friend of Champia Real Estate Inspections,  is an active and founding member of the Veteran Resource Center. Other members, partners and collaborations include: The Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services, the Gwinnett County Disabled American Veterans and the DAV AuxiliaryViewpoint Health, Gwinnett Help Line, Lawrenceville Vet Center, Success to Succeed, Tracy Quantum Counseling and the Georgia Department of Labor.

Tom Merkel, The Impact! Group’s president and CEO, said the members of the Veterans Resource Center are looking for more partners to support its work.
