Our Story – Legacy, Leadership, and Growth
From a Single Inspector to a Trusted Industry Leader
Champia Real Estate Inspections was founded in 1987, when home inspections were still a new concept in the Atlanta real estate market. What began as a one-man operation quickly evolved into a trusted name as Champia helped shape inspection standards across the region.
Our early success came from a commitment to thorough, honest evaluations and strong relationships with local real estate professionals. We didn’t just inspect homes—we helped establish the best practices for doing it right in Atlanta’s unique climate and housing landscape.
As the years passed, we expanded into commercial inspections, built a respected team of ASHI- and ICC-certified inspectors, and even launched a school to educate both agents and aspiring inspectors. Termite issues, mold concerns, radon testing and sewer scope inspections - our inspectors were trained to go beyond the basics and spot issues others might miss.
With over 100,000 inspections behind us, we’re proud to say our work has helped shape the local industry. And while we’ve grown, we still believe in what got us here: doing right by the client and a passion for protecting what matters most.
Bill Compton
Bill Compton is a Certified Inspector with the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and a seasoned expert in the real estate inspection industry. Before transitioning to inspections, he was a Certified General Contractor and the CEO of a luxury home construction and renovation firm, where he specialized in high-end residential projects and quality craftsmanship.
A United States Navy veteran, Bill earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He was also an active member of Rotary International for 26 years, during which he served as both President and Assistant Governor. His extensive background in construction, real estate, and leadership continues to make him a highly respected professional in the industry.
